In a series of interviews with local Eastern Shore resident Eldon Willing, Sr. during the years of 1971 to 1972, former Salisbury University student and professor, Rita Park and Anita Hunsberger collected folk legends. For this collection, these interviews focus on various stories of mermaid sightings on two separate occasions on the waters near Chance, Maryland. Most interviews include personal descriptions of the interviewer and informant, and the story.
